Audits
Every day, a random sample of published rows is checked from scratch against its sources by a separate AI audit agent that never sees the member's party. Failures are fixed or withdrawn, and every week the pattern of failures is used to tighten the methodology. Everything is published here, including what went wrong.
| What was checked | Checked | Failed | Error rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Researched row | 412 | 296 | 71.8% |
| Parsed trade | 37 | 0 | 0.0% |
| Summed disclosure | 22 | 0 | 0.0% |
| Lobbying record | 6 | 4 | 66.7% |
How a day's sample is drawn
The sample is seeded with the date, so anyone can re-draw it: the frames are every researched row, every measured stock row with trades, and every measured net-worth row. Researched rows are spread across components so none goes unchecked for long. See how the methodology corrects itself.
Weekly methodology reviews
- 2026-10-16 · 490 rows audited that week, error rate 62.7%. Shipped methodology v2.4: Three rubric rules tightened (v2.4); no weights, formulas or numbers changed. Most of this week's failures were claims with no source behind them: committee seats, facts that lower a score, and negative claims. The rubric also had no definition for what moves "campaign-fund personal use", which failed 32 of 53 audits (60%).
- 2026-10-16 · 140 rows audited that week, error rate 9.4%. Shipped methodology v2.3: Three rubric rules tightened (v2.3), aimed at the two components with repeated failures: money and action (9 of 86 rows failed) and revolving door (4 of 36). No weights or formulas changed. The new rules define "concentrated" money and a "staff pipeline", add a 45–60 tier for alignment documented only by reporting, and say how FEC cycle files, derived totals and unreachable pages may be cited.

The report URL redirected to https://efdsearch.senate.gov/search/home/, which is the eFD search-agreement gate, so the Part 3 assets schedule never loaded. Per the instructions this is unsure. I didn't count any assets, so I can't check the site's 2025 figure of $22M–$84M. - unsure Summed disclosure: Ro Khanna · net-worth enrichment in office
The PDF (Rohit Khanna, CY2016) is a 116-page scan of CCITT images with no text layer, so pdftotext returns nothing. Schedule A is the old paper form: values are X marks in a rotated checkbox grid. Page 2 reads 'Please see the attached / Note: Almost all assets are spouse's', and the actual holdings sit in roughly 110 pages of scanned attachments. OCR can't reliably recover the checked value columns, so I can't independently count the holdings or sum their ranges. I can't confirm or refute $28M–open-ended. - unsure Lobbying record: Michael T. McCaul · revolving door & family
I couldn't check this claim because the source link has no filing ID, so it doesn't identify one filing or one lobbyist. The site's own data (data/lake/lobbying_former_staff.csv) has several McCaul-office lobbyists, each tied to a specific filing URL. Two examples: Zachary Isakowitz (NVIDIA, filing 4caec807-4163-44a7-9fbb-2001daedab24) and Christopher Del Beccaro (Alki Strategies, filing 41ae54e3-19da-414a-888a-b85756588e9f). Matthew Conner and Kris Parker (Arete Public Affairs) share filing cda7bfe2-0f24-4b89-adbb-c71f6ce9cbb8. Whatever produced this citation fell back to the search page instead of the filing URL. Fix that, re-run the check against the right filing, and it can be decided. - unsure Lobbying record: Seth Moulton · revolving door & family
The citation doesn't point to a specific filing. Without a filing UUID (https://lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/<uuid>/print/ or /api/v1/filings/<uuid>/) or a lobbyist name, I can't tell which filing or lobbyist the site means, so I can't check the Seth Moulton (House, MA) covered position. The site's source link for this record looks like a placeholder or a broken link it built itself. It should store and link the filing_uuid for each covered-position claim. - unsure Lobbying record: Lisa C. McClain · revolving door & family
The citation link doesn't name a filing. It has no filing UUID, and the claim doesn't name the lobbyist, so I can't look up the matching record in the LDA API (/api/v1/filings/{uuid}/) either. To check the Lisa C. McClain (House, MI) attribution, the site's source link needs to point at the specific filing, e.g. lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/<uuid>/print/, and the claim needs the lobbyist's name. Without those, the claim can't be verified from its own source. That is a sourcing defect in its own right. - fail Lobbying record: Gregory W. Meeks · revolving door & family
Becker & Poliakoff for the American Weather Enterprise Association, 2026 Q2. Clarence Williams is on the filing, but his covered position names Rep. Kendrick B. Meek. Meek was a Florida House member, 2003–2011. He is a different person from Gregory W. Meeks (NY). The site's own quote, "Rep. Kendrick Meeks", mixes the two names, which suggests a fuzzy match on "Meek/Meeks" put him on the wrong member.
Outcome: filing left out of the measure - unsure Lobbying record: David McCormick · revolving door & family
The source link has no filing UUID and the claim doesn't name the lobbyist, so there was nothing to check the McCormick (Senate, PA) covered position against. The site seems to have saved the search page as the citation instead of the filing's own URL. To verify, the audit needs the filing UUID or print URL and the lobbyist's name. - unsure Lobbying record: Maria Elvira Salazar · revolving door & family
The source link has no filing UUID, and the claim doesn't name the lobbyist, so there's nothing to check against Maria Elvira Salazar's office. Greederboard should store and link the filing-specific URL (lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/<uuid>/print/, or api/v1/filings/<uuid>/) and the lobbyist's name, so the covered-position attribution can be checked. - unsure Lobbying record: Kevin Hern · revolving door & family
The citation doesn't point to a filing. It links to the LDA search form with no filing UUID, and the claim doesn't name the lobbyist. That leaves no filing to open, no lobbyist to look up on it, and no covered position to compare with 'office of Kevin Hern (House, OK)'. Fix: store the filing's own URL (lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/<uuid>/print/ or the API's /api/v1/filings/<uuid>/), plus the lobbyist's name, so the claim can be checked. Until that's done, the attribution can't be confirmed. - fail Lobbying record: Stacey E. Plaskett · revolving door & family
I read the filing as JSON from the LDA API (lda.senate.gov/api/v1/filings/4e404179-…). Registrant: OGR. Client: PJM Interconnection LLC. Period: 2026 Q2. It lists four lobbyists: Jerome Murray, Karissa Willhite, Conrad Lass and Chris Giblin. None of them has a covered position on this filing. Murray is on it, but nothing here names Rep. Stacey Plaskett's office or any other office, so this filing doesn't support the site's attribution. Registrants usually disclose a covered position only on a lobbyist's first filing for a client, so the site's text, which also names Butterfield and the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, probably comes from an earlier OGR filing. The site should cite that filing instead of this one. A hook blocked the print page, so I used the API. A second API call to show Murray's full entries returned HTTP 429 (rate limit). The first call had already returned covered_position as null for every lobbyist.
Outcome: filing left out of the measure - unsure Lobbying record: Dan Crenshaw · revolving door & family
The citation doesn't point to a single filing, so I can't check the claim that a lobbyist's covered position was in Rep. Dan Crenshaw's office (House, TX). To verify it, the site's evidence record needs to carry the filing UUID (lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/{uuid}/print/ or api/v1/filings/{uuid}/) and the lobbyist's name. On the site's side, this looks like a source-link bug: it stores the generic search URL instead of the filing's own link. - unsure Lobbying record: John James · revolving door & family
The citation links to the generic Senate LDA search page, so it points at no specific filing. The audit request also leaves out the lobbyist's name, so I couldn't look the filing up through the LDA API (/api/v1/filings/?filing_uuid=… or lobbyist search) either. Without a filing to read, I can't confirm or rule out a covered position at Rep. John James's (R-MI) office. To fix this on the site, store the specific filing URL (https://lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/<uuid>/print/) and the lobbyist's name in the source record, then audit again. - fail Lobbying record: Tommy Tuberville · revolving door & family
This is the Klein/Johnson Group filing for Airports Council International - North America, Q2 2026. I checked it two ways. The LDA API returned covered_position = null on all four of Hayes's lobbying_activities entries. On the print page his name appears in each lobbyist list with nothing in the covered-position column. So he is on the filing, but this filing never names Tuberville's office. The site's string ("…Leg Dir, Sen. Tuberville; …DHS") probably came from another filing, such as an earlier one or his registration (LD-1). The site should cite that filing as the source for the Tuberville link, not this one. Calling this "fail" is a judgment call. The rubric's fail cases are a missing lobbyist or a different office, and here the position is simply blank. But the filing is readable, so "unsure" doesn't fit either.
Outcome: filing left out of the measure - fail Lobbying record: Mike Johnson · revolving door & family
I read this from the lda.gov print page. The LDA API returned 429 errors. The filing is registrant California Recycling Alliance, 2026. Hodges is on it, but this filing gives him no covered position. It doesn't mention Speaker Johnson or any other office, so it doesn't support the site's attribution to Mike Johnson's office. The text the site shows ("NatSec Adv, Speaker Johnson; …") must come from a different filing. The only covered position anywhere on this filing belongs to John Steitz: Sen. John Kennedy, Senate Small Business Committee and Sen. David Vitter. Either cite the filing where Hodges actually disclosed the Johnson role, or stop citing this filing as the source.
Outcome: filing left out of the measure - unsure Lobbying record: Rick Larsen · revolving door & family
The cited source is https://lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/search/, the blank search page. It has no filing UUID and no filing ID, and the claim doesn't name the lobbyist, so there was no specific filing for me to open, either on the site or through the LDA API (/api/v1/filings/{uuid}/). My one fetch attempt was blocked by a tool permission denial, but a search form wouldn't have shown a covered position anyway. To fix it, store the filing's own URL in the citation (lda.senate.gov/filings/public/filing/{uuid}/print/) along with the lobbyist's name. Then check that their covered_position text names Rep. Rick Larsen's office (WA-02). Right now the citation can't be checked as given. - fail Researched row: Alan Armstrong · revolving door & family
